Position Overview

The Sr. Manager, Retail Operations will be driving the retail operations and expansion in partnership with the retail partners and licensees for UP&E Greater China business. This individual will support the business head of UP&E Greater China in developing the retail operations strategy, and play a critical role in planning the retail marketing campaigns and retail partner expansion initiatives, that eventually boost the UP&E business results and growth. This role will also be expected to be the expert with retail market insights of China, to explore the best potential opportunities to drive business growth.

The ideal candidate will have consumer products retail market expertise, knowledge of the licensing, entertainment and retail landscape. They will have established relationships with major retailers in China local market, outstanding negotiation and coordination skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the breadth of skills required to help lead internal and external partners to execute key initiatives & drive the overall growth of their business.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the head of UP&E Greater China to set up the retail expansion strategy, priority and implementation plan, build solid connection with key retail partners, explore new retail/whole channels, develop local online & offline retail and online e-commerce marketing initiatives to promote maximum sell-in and sell-through.
  • Aligns with brand creative and franchise marketing teams to follow through with brand creative guidelines and franchise marketing calendar.
  • Works closely with category and e-commerce teams to maximize franchises exposures and their values in retail marketing programs, effectively implement retail marketing initiatives and achieve retail objectives.
  • Be accountable for the necessity and results of local in-store and online campaigns and promotions and ensure the flawless execution of overall retail marketing strategies.
  • Aligns in-store and e-commerce with advertising, PR and social to create compelling launches.
  • Be knowledgeable about the targets and performance of local stores (online & offline), and knows clearly which marketing levers need to be activated as needed to impact KPIs.
  • Maintains harmonize and efficient relationships with key business partners and e-commerce platforms/channels for best deliveries.
  • Creates and coordinates the retail marketing budget process with functional team to ensure all expenses are under control.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 yearsโ€™ experiences in a similar role with in-depth knowledge of Retail KPIs
  • Experience within the Go-To-Market process for an omni-channel retailer
  • Excellent understanding of brand and property positioning, retail business development function, retail distribution and the retail/e-commerce environment in China market.
  • Ability to establish and lead a multi-layered retail operations strategy and plan
  • Proven track record delivering growth with solid analytical / financial skills
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work independently and with cross-divisional teams
  • Curious, open to change and possesses a reasonable comfort level with ambiguity
  • Strong time management in multi-tasking and meeting deadlines and being resilient in working within a fast-moving environment
  • Solid interpersonal, networking and negotiating skills
  • An unwavering commitment to quality with exceptional attention to detail
  • Fully proficient with Microsoft office software, especially in PPT
  • Fluent written and oral communication skills in both Chinese and English
  • Excellent presentation skills in front of global stakeholders and external partners
  • Willing and able to travel across Greater China and/or international trips, sometimes with short notice

Desired Qualifications

  • Passionate about film and IPs, great interest in driving IPโ€™s empowerment on consumer products
  • Proven ability to pitch various partners with strong negotiation skills
  • Experience of working in an international environment will be preferred
