As a Senior Software Automation Engineer, you will work with our test automation center of excellence team in the Software Quality Engineering discipline to design, implement, and support enterprise-scale automated testing frameworks and solutions to allow for rapid testing and deployment of complex interconnected software solutions. In this role, you will seek to understand customer usage models and develop test automation strategies, robust automation harnesses, utilities, dashboards, and processes to ensure ongoing improvement of the test automation practice. You will also be responsible for driving the software development process toward automation-first methodologies through large-scale training & coaching initiatives, mentoring, and cross-functional projects

Senior Software Automation Engineer will play a pivotal role in helping the team achieve its strategic objectives in those areas.

**As a Senior Software Automation Engineer, a typical day might include:

  • Fostering innovation through modernizing and evolving test automation tooling, frameworks, and processes with industry standards in both functional and non-functional testing
  • Driving and participating in overarching enterprise-wide test automation initiatives with the center of excellence team
  • Coaching & mentoring development teams to identify risks and collaborate on building automated tests through office hours, pair programming, and code reviews
  • Learning, leveraging, and sharing new technologies and best practices with peers
  • Triaging nightly regression automation runs and assisting in automated deployments
  • Designing test frameworks and creating appropriate test harnesses that replicate real-world customer usage for both functional and non-functional testing
  • Participating in quality engineering initiatives within your team and the overall engineering department
  • Creating and maintaining a ‘gold standard’ automation test suites and test data set to ensure the highest quality product delivery
  • Evaluate new products & technologies and create strategies to assess their quality

**This job might be for you if:

  • You have deep experience in a test or development role as part of a product development organization that has delivered consumer or enterprise software products
  • You have deep experience working with Restful APIs and frontend UIs
  • You have deep experience writing end-to-end tests with open-source front-end test automation tools & frameworks, such as WebDriverIO, Protractor, or similar tools
  • You have deep experience writing integration tests with open-source REST API test automation tools & frameworks, such as REST Assured or similar tools
  • You have knowledge of non-functional testing concepts.
  • You have a working knowledge of CI/CD principles and tools such as Jenkins.
  • You have experience working with Java and JavaScript/Typescript programming languages and concepts
  • You enjoy being a mentor & a subject matter expert, and thrive working in a fast-paced, Agile environment
  • You enjoy being a self-starter and taking ownership of leaving things better than you found them
  • You keep up with the trends in the industry and are eager to adapt to new tools and processes to solve problems

Bonus points for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • Experience working on a Center of Excellence team
  • Scrum Master or Project Management knowledge/experience
  • Experience with design and automation of performance, load tests etc.
