ROLE SUMMARY: Manager-Capital Market, Finance contro

The LSEG Capital Markets division is home to several outstanding capital formation and execution venues. Reporting to the Regional Controller, the Manager for Capital Markets Financial Control will play an integral role in financial control for LSEG Capital Markets legal entities including the London Stock Exchange PLC (“LSE PLC”) and Turquoise Group.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Compilation of the annual financial statements including extended trial balance files for Capital Markets regulated entities.
  • Oversee journal entries to account for adjustments identified during the preparation of the annual financial statements.
  • Deliver going concern and intangible asset impairment assessments for Capital Markets legal entities.
  • Coordinate audit engagement letters from initiation through to review by the Procurement / Legal teams and director signature.
  • Gather and coordinate the submission of external audit deliverables at year end, interim and half year.
  • Actively participate in the relationship with the external auditors from engagement to opinion. Engage in weekly meetings with the audit team and coordinate audit documents such as the management representation letters.
  • Produce monthly board reporting materials for LSE PLC and Turquoise legal entities.
  • Compile monthly regulatory submissions including the financial resources requirement workings for LSE PLC.
  • Manage and mentor junior legal entity financial control team members in the Finance Centre of Excellence.
  • Perform and oversee the month end analytical review procedures to gain comfort over the legal entity balance sheets and income statements before period close. Investigate unusual movements, provide commentary and coordinate correcting journal entries where necessary.
  • Actively participate in month-end timetable management and completion of the period close process.
  • Review monthly direct and allocated costs by legal entity. Coordinating journal entries to correct misallocations and liaise with the procurement team to make any necessary accounts payable standing data updates.
  • Support the review balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline for Capital Markets legal entities. Drive improvement and ensure accounts are reconciled in a timely manner and appropriately substantiated.
  • Review, oversee or perform technical accounting entries, such as IFRS15 and IFRS9.
  • Working alongside divisional finance teams, support the preparation of legal entity budgets
  • Support with the preparation of financial modelling of stress scenarios for inclusion in prudential risk documents (i.e. FRR, ICARA & ICLAAP)
  • Build an in-depth knowledge of the chart of accounts, ledger string coding, finance systems such as Essbase, HFM and Oracle Fusion. Work towards becoming a subject matter authority for the wider Finance team.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar) with a minimum of 5 years PQE.
  • Strong people and stakeholder management track record.
  • Extensive experience in legal entity, divisional or business unit financial control.
  • Tenacious. Ability to identify, chase down issues and follow through to conclusion.
  • Technical accounting, particularly UK GAAP and IFRS.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Background in financial services or capital markets.
  • Experience with Blackline, Oracle, Hyperion and Essbase Systems is desirable.
  • Financial process improvement.
