The Director of Operations will be responsible for coordinating ESS O&M operations including setting strategic goals, overseeing the day-to-day business activities and supervising staff to ensure effective use of company resources, delivery of key KPIs, and compliance with ESS contractual obligations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Inspire and promote a culture of safety and accountability amongst field personnel.
  • Manage ESS O&M operations team to service the portfolio of renewable energy projects under contract. Team of [4] managers will directly report to the position (Eastern, Mid-Atlantic, Mid-West and Special Projects]
  • Manage 3rd party maintenance vendor relationships and contracts.
  • Direct operations, planning, scheduling, and efficient deployment of resources to meet contractual obligations.
  • Responsible for overseeing monitoring team to improve system performance, alert response times and meet contractual availability and production guarantees.
  • Oversee CMMS to ensure schedules and obligations are met in compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Review and support O&M and Special Projects contract negotiation in the interest of ESS.
  • Understand client organizations, assets, and installed
  • Develop strong and enduring customer relationships, while improving project
  • Address and resolve escalated performance, service, and client issues.
  • Work with internal teams to support Special Projects line of business where possible.
  • Work with Client Relationship team to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Oversee the delivery of Vegetation Management and Ancillary Services Teams to meet contractual obligations.
  • Responsible for the Contribution Margin of services and contribute proactively to problem identification and resolution by highlighting risks and promptly driving internal and external departments in solving issues which affect clients or ESS.
  • Oversee accurate transfer of work order data to accounting for timely billing activities.
  • Maintain working knowledge of industry trends, vendors, and markets to ensure ESS keeps up with the O&M industry.
  • Review and approve expenses, quotes, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects and portfolios.
  • Present key KPI reports and metrics to senior leadership on a periodic basis.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four [4] – Six [6] years of demonstrated experience in Solar Operations & Maintenance Management, technical services, or construction services.
  • College degree in either a business or related technical field.
  • Experience in PV project maintenance, or management.
  • Proven experience working with industry subcontractors and vendors.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • NFPA 70E certification.
  • NABCEP certification strongly preferred.

SKILLS:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire team members.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to professionally interface with Clients and other Stakeholders.
  • Technical knowledge of PV Data Acquisition Systems and PV Monitoring.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines on time.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
