RPO Recruitment is currently hiring for an OHS Officer to join a well-established food manufacturing company based in Cape Town. As an OHS Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and improve workplace safety
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
- Provide training and education to employees on safety protocols and procedures
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to occupational health and safety
- Monitor and report on safety performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures
- Stay updated on OHS legislation and industry best practices, recommending changes to policies and procedures as necessary
- Collaborate with other departments to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
- Previous experience as an OHS Officer in a food manufacturing or related industry
- ISO 450001 implementation experience
- Excellent knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to conduct thorough inspections and investigations
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in MS Office and other relevant software
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Valid driver's license
