The Director, of Sales is responsible for communicating the Firm’s vision and capabilities in Innovation Funding services to the marketplace. This role engages clients and prospects in a consultative manner to deliver customized solutions. Responsibilities include expanding and cross-selling within client relationships, researching, initiating, and developing new business relationships across all Firm service lines. Additionally, this position involves building, leading, and mentoring a high-performing client services team to drive business growth.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Coordinate sales efforts with Firm Principals and Practice Leaders for joint-selling activities.
- Provide support to Principals in deal negotiations, contract development, and due diligence.
- Build and maintain key relationships with significant Firm prospects.
- Make cold calls and maintain contact with prospects and clients through telephone, email, and mail.
- Meet with prospects to discuss potential engagements.
- Identify, research, and pursue prospects to generate new business for the Firm, with a focus on Innovation Funding services.
- Maintain entries in the Firm’s Prospect Register and/or Microsoft® CRM.
- Pursue industry-specific issues related to Innovation Funding with prospects based on information from Firm Principals and Practice Leaders.
- Attend relevant conferences to generate leads of qualified prospects.
- Develop responses to requests for proposals specific to Innovation Funding services.
- Understand Innovation Funding service offerings deeply enough to discuss them with prospects.
- Maintain an understanding of the Firm’s active alliance partners’ products and service lines to sell alliance partner services if appropriate.
- Utilize Internet tools (e.g., OneSource) for prospect and client research.
- Stay current on industry trends related to Innovation Funding that may create sales opportunities with prospects and clients.
- Generate necessary documentation for deal closing (presentations, engagement letters, etc.) for Innovation Funding services.
- Assist with other projects as needed.
- Build and lead a high-performing client services team, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to achieve individual and team sales goals.
- Monitor team performance, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations to foster a culture of continuous improvement and success.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent with six to eight years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must have basic skills in Microsoft® Excel and Access, intermediate skills in Microsoft® Outlook, and advanced skills in Microsoft® Word, CRM, and Internet navigation and research.
Certificates and Licenses:
- A valid driver’s license is required.
