OVERVIEW:

Learning and Organizational Development is a fast paced and dynamic environment with a focus on collaboration and teamwork. As a key member of the Learning Technologies team, the Instructional Designer will play a pivotal role in designing high-impact, blended-learning focused on business processes for new hire team members. The successful candidate will be a strong writer who is experienced in designing engaging eLearning experiences ensuring alignment with adult learning methodologies and best practices. This position will also provide mentorship on adult learning and instructional design expertise.

Through strategic analysis, crafting impactful training experiences, and providing expert guidance on learning best practices, the Instructional Designer will support in building a robust learning culture within the organization.

This is a remote position that may require occasional travel to our corporate office in Edmonton.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Team Guidance

  • Provide strategic guidance on Instructional Design to the Learning Technologies team.
  • Support team members and leaders in planning and coordinating learning projects, ensuring clear identification of deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Evaluate courses or programs and implement revisions to ensure learning best practices are met.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders through regular communication and updates.
  • Conduct stakeholder meetings to establish project goals and requirements.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to validate content requirements, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate open communication channels, fostering a shared understanding of project objectives and expectations.

Course Development

  • Convert complex business training into blended learning experiences comprising of eLearning and instructor led training.
  • Apply the ADDIE framework and best practices in instructional design when creating and maintaining program content.
  • Conduct needs analysis for curriculum design, identifying performance gaps, learning objectives, audience insights.
  • Select appropriate educational practices and instructional modalities, such as instructor-led, e-learning, and micro-learning.
  • Write eLearning storyboards, incorporating client feedback and aligning with Bloom's taxonomy.
  • Create supporting material materials for training, including, reference guides, job aids, manuals, and presentations.
  • Innovatively incorporate interactive elements and multimedia components to enhance learner engagement and knowledge retention.

Quality Assurance and Evaluation:

  • Develop assessment and feedback mechanisms during the instructional design process.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

  • 10+ years related experience in progressive instructional design experience in a corporate environment.
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field such as Adult Education, Human Resources, Communications, Business, Organizational Development.
  • Instructional design, adult education, eLearning, curriculum development certification from accredited institution completed.
  • Strong writer and instructional designer.
  • Knowledge of adult learning and instructional design theory, including ADDIE.
  • Proficiency in designing content that will be developed in Articulate 360.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback on training materials that enhance the instructional content’s effectiveness and relevance.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to manage eLearning design projects independently.
  • Commitment to ongoing evaluation and refinement of instructional materials and methods.
