Role Summary

The Technical Training Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the content for Sophos’ partner and customer technical training courses You will also be responsible for supporting the global enablement needs of Sophos, including the Sales Engineer community, through designing and delivering content.

As part of this role, you will provide support to Technical Training Developers working alongside you.

This is not a training delivery role, however, you may be requirement to contribute to webinars and in-person training sessions as part of developing courses and communicating changes.

What You Will Do:

  • Design, develop and maintain exceptional technical training materials in multiple modalities, including eLearning, videos, labs, and instructor-led classroom training
  • Design, build, and maintain virtual lab environments and associated lab guides to support technical training courses
  • Scope projects and estimate time required accurately
  • Consistently meet deadlines and communicate promptly with the team when obstacles arise
  • Work with subject matter experts, including sales engineers, professional services, engineering, product management, and support, to utilize existing skills and resources, and to ensure training aligns to business requirements
  • Work with closely with regional subject matter experts to review and validate technical training content
  • Consult with stakeholders to define technical enablement needs; this is a shared responsibility with the training team as a whole
  • Develop programs and materials to support identified technical enablement requirements
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new learning models and content design templates
  • Develop your skills to become a subject matter expert on the products you create training for
  • Provide support to Technical Training Developers working alongside you; helping them to define their course plans and deliver projects required by the business
  • Work with the rest of the team to handle incoming queries and troubleshoot issues as required to support the delivery of our technical training courses
  • Support students completing training through self-paced eLearning
  • Deliver webinars and in-person training sessions where required as part of this role

What You Will Bring:

  • Must have previous experience in designing and developing materials and writing assessments for technical training

  • At least 2 years domain expertise in enterprise IT security

  • Experienced in creating technical training content using MS PowerPoint and MS Word

  • Experienced in building complex virtual environments

  • Experienced in working across multiple geographic regions

  • Excellent oral presentation, written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and build productive working relationships

  • Ability to execute on several parallel tasks and prioritize appropriately

  • Ability to install and manage small heterogeneous networks

  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly

  • Occasional travel may be required

Desirable:

  • Knowledge and/or experience using Sophos’ next-gen products
  • Experience using Articulate Storyline and Rise or similar authoring tool
  • Ideally has previous working experience with a competitive vendor in the security and/or networking environment
  • Experience of delivering training, both in-person and remotely
  • Experience of certification delivery, as part of an education program

In Canada, The base pay for this role ranges from $32.69 to $54.80 per hour. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
