Job Description

Vertex is seeking experienced and talented commercial leader to join our US Pain Business Unit as we work to introduce potential new treatment options for acute pain. The Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) Account Lead will be responsible for developing the GPO strategy and establishing and maintaining relationships with key GPO decision makers. This role involves collaborating with GPO stakeholders to deliver access for the US business unit, which is preparing for the potential commercialization of an investigational novel selective inhibitor of NaV1.8 for acute pain. We are looking for candidates with a proven track record of delivering exceptional patient-focused results, building compliant, strategic relationships, and embodying the Vertex values to earn the trust of GPO stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish meaningful, professional relationships with key decision makers across assigned GPOs (i.e. Vizient, Premier, Health Trust and Apexus), their networks, and their members to accelerate access for Vertex brands.
  • Serve as the lead for strategic GPO accounts, responsible for developing and executing a cross-functional account strategy.
  • Lead contract negotiations, compliance, and renewal to effectively deliver favorable access to Vertex products.
  • Develop and implement strategic account plans that drive appropriate brand adoption within the GPO channel.
  • Provide channel expertise to internal teams and ensure coordination and alignment in strategic planning and execution. Prepare and present regular reports on channel performance, trends, and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and develop business opportunities that support pain BU strategies in collaboration with GPO capabilities including conferences, marketing programs and other strategic and innovative opportunities.
  • Partner effectively across the Pain BU with Market Access, Strategic Accounts, Commercial, Marketing, Contracting, Trade, Pricing, Legal, Compliance and Leadership along with other relevant support functions

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals
  • 5+ years of experience in GPO account management

Skills

  • Strong understanding of GPO operations and healthcare supply chain
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with Group Purchasing Organizations and their members.
  • Experience in contract formation, negotiation, and management within a GPO setting.
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating, executing, and implementing contracts.
  • Strong budget/financial analysis and modeling capability
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving targets and drive growth
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and ensuring compliance with all company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Travel Requirements: Field based with significant travel (~60%)

Pay Range:

$166,400 - $249,600

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
