Platform Engineer (Mid-Level) (f/m/d)

Our Platform team is seeking a mid-level Platform Engineer (f/m/d). You will be responsible for the Cloud Platform, Observability, Reliability, Scalability and Availability of the Moss system. You will assist with building CI/CD workflows, and removing the complexities of the Cloud so that product engineers can focus on building user experience. You will work on a modern and stable system built with industry best practices and with heavy automation, meaning that we currently have no on call rotations (more about our tech stack here).

Your responsibilities

Here's a bit more on what you can expect to be doing day-to-day:

• Cloud Platform Ownership: Take charge of Moss's cloud environment by setting up and managing access to various services through infrastructure-as-code practices, specifically using Terraform. Empower product engineers, data engineers, and others to efficiently use cloud resources.
• Partner with Product Engineers: Assist developers to deploy new microservices to Kubernetes and autoscale them. We also manage key services like Kafka, databases, and other external services running in the system.
• Pipeline Management: Manage the CI/CD pipelines to ensure consistent development workflows, and secure code deployments to different environments in compliance with the regulatory requirements.
• Monitoring oversight: Work directly on the observability stack, such as core integrations, monitors and routing alerts to appropriate teams.
• System Administration: Oversee the network infrastructure (DNS, routing, firewalls, etc) of the system.

About you

We think you’ll need the following experience and qualifications to succeed in this role:

• Proven production experience, working with distributed systems (microservices) deployed in the cloud.
• Programming expertise in at least one statically typed language (Golang, Typescript or Java) and with shell scripts and basic Linux commands.
• Fundamental knowledge of Kubernetes (deployments, networking, resource limitations, helm-charts as deployable units, operators, etc). Also, experience managing infrastructure-as-code with Terraform or other alternatives like Chef or Ansible.
• Experience contributing to the CI/CD pipeline configurations.

• Impact Driven: You focus on making developers more productive by providing essential tools, streamlining workflows, and removing any obstacles in their path. Regularly gather feedback from developers to continuously improve the tools and processes they rely on.
