The opportunity

The part-time Academic Coach position involves working 28 hours per week from August through June 1st, assisting campus students who are at risk of academic attrition. The coach provides personalized support through one-to-one meetings to help students improve their academic performance and achieve their educational goals. The aim is to identify the underlying causes of academic difficulties and develop tailored strategies to enhance study skills, time management and overall academic success. #LI-Onsite

This is an on-site campus position reporting to the Asst Director of the Wolak Learning Center. Flexible schedule options between 9:00am-4:30pm EST, Monday through Friday with the ability to work nights when needed, up to 28 hours per week.

In this role:

• You will participate in relationship-based student coaching to help grow transferable learning and executive function skills through one-to-one meetings.
• You will positively help retention and success of campus students by providing student support engaging learning experiences.
• You will develop an understanding of university supports and resources and refer students to appropriate resources.
• You will maintain confidentiality of all student records and information shared during coaching sessions.
• You will collaborate with faculty and staff to coordinate and support efforts and advocate for student needs.
• You will help develop and implement coaching programs designed for students on academic probation.
• You will represent Wolak Learning Center at on-campus recruitment events and participate in events sponsored by the Wolak Learning Center.
• You will build relationships with students, SNHU staff and faculty, to enhance student success.
• You will participate in weekly staff meetings.
• You will lead program specific workshops to support a range of academic and executive functioning skills.
• You may have other responsibilities as assigned.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree in the fields of psychology, education, or special education
• 1+ years experience in academic advising, tutoring, mentoring/coaching or related educational support roles in higher education
• 1 + years experience working with college students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds and academic abilities, is beneficial.
• Experience with academic success factors, study skills, time management techniques and learning strategies.
• Assess student needs, set goals, and develop action plans to support academic growth.
• Familiarity with educational technology and resources commonly used in academic support services.
• Organizational skills to manage caseloads, maintain documentation, and track student progress.
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting student development and success.
• Cultural competences and sensitivity to work effectively with a diverse student population.

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $24.09 - $38.55. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations. We expect this position to be hired in the following target hiring range $26.62 - $36.02.
