Role purpose:

Morning Data is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join their Business Solutions team. The ideal candidate should have a background in general or life insurance and experience in one or more London Market Insurance operations. This role involves both client-focused consultancy and analytical services, as well as internal responsibilities within the team.

Main responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business users and technical teams to capture requirements and design processes and solutions.
  • Understand and document proposals for change, articulating business drivers, benefits, and desired outcomes.
  • Lead requirements gathering, analyzing Change Requests against documented business benefits.
  • Facilitate finalization and approval of requirements and recommendations with senior management.
  • Research clients’ business models, strategies, and capabilities.
  • Undertake stakeholder mapping, communication, and engagement.
  • Run workshops to create detailed business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
  • Supporting more junior analysts in their reviews of the coverage of tests executed by the QA team.
  • Assisting during the execution of user acceptance testing.
  • Leading via work allocation, quality management, problem resolution and supporting analysts within their project team.
  • Liaising with Project and Account Management within their project team around planning, escalations and problem resolution.
  • Managing expectations and consulting/problem-solving to entrench relationships built on trust and delivery.
  • Answers team member questions, helps with team member problems, and oversees team member work for quality and guideline compliance.
  • Leading the planning and actively support pilot projects and roll-out tasks.
  • Engage in vendor evaluations, RFIs, RFPs.
  • Support Sales team with demonstrations to prospects.
  • Providing overall acceptance of the quality of a release before taking it to a Product Owner.
  • Execute training for clients and other team members.
  • Communicates deadlines and goals to their project team.
  • Potential line management of more junior analysts, including setting objectives and supporting training plans.
  • Work with the QA and Development practices to understand initiatives under consideration and their requirements from the analysis team and support the implementation of these.
  • Coordinating the effort required to ensure that the overall solutions provided across the product suite meet client requirements.
  • Assisting with the collection of estimates from other team members and using them to inform project planning internally and externally.
  • Any other duties commensurate to the grade of the role.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience as a Lead/Senior Business Analyst in the London Insurance market (Underwriting or Claims).
  • Strong communication and senior stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Familiarity with both business processes and IT.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office.
  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Extensive experience working in an analysis role.
  • Solid experience in managing work allocation.
  • Experience managing the quality of the analysis output.
  • Experience providing reviews, feedback and mentoring analysts.
  • Effectively gather, manage and document requirements, and development of use cases.
  • Understanding of the Project Life Cycle and Agile development and testing principles.
  • Understanding of the structure and processes of the London Insurance Market and Global Insurance Market.
  • Understanding of the product the analyst works in and the wider product suite.
  • Understanding of process design and documentation methodologies.
  • Ability to create an effective business case, from defining the opportunity and analysing alternatives to presenting final recommendations.
  • Experience producing and meeting accurate estimates.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in Underwriting and Broking related roles.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Java or C# (not mandatory).
