We are currently hiring for a Project Engineer (System Engineering Analyst) who excels in analyzing electrical systems, ensuring seamless integration within the overall product while considering manufacturability and testability. You will support current production, driving product improvements, ensuring compliance to requirements, testing, managing data, updating product structure and preparing reports. Other areas may include supporting continuous improvement of products/processes through Engineering Change Proposals and effectively manage projects. You will also:

  • Perform design, analysis and test functions with greater emphasis on how design integrates with the rest of the unit (definition of requirements, detailed design of part or all of a circuit card with awareness of manufacturability and testability concerns).
  • Analyze and manage data efficiently, prepare reports, and summarize data.
  • Initiate and manage product changes through Change Requests (CR) and Engineering Change Proposals (ECP).
  • Develop test and debug plans of electrical assemblies with greater emphasis on how those assemblies integrate with other parts of the system.
  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing and Quality on issues related to continuous improvement programs/initiatives and production efficiencies.
  • Documents analysis, designs and tests (e.g., tech notes, requirements specifications, design documents, test plans, test reports, and procedures)
  • Product management in the form of improvement, obsolescence, lead time reduction, and cost reduction.
  • Process and follow-up in a timely manner all documentation required by the company, including engineering change requests, non-conformance reports, etc.
  • Make observations and take measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved.
  • Investigate problems, analyze root causes and derive resolutions.
  • Apply process improvement tools including: LEAN, process capability studies, development and implementation of control plans, FMEA's, and the 5S principles.
  • Assist Project Managers/Project Engineers on the preparation of proposals and develop bid specifications for on time submissions.
  • Submit drawings/documentation on time, with quality and accuracy.
  • Manage projects related to product and process improvements.
  • Plan (define, estimate, schedule) assigned tasks of limited scope.
  • Interface with internal and external Customers and make presentations for reviews.
  • Maintain product design revisions.
  • Continues to practice the principles of robust design and can generate EDF artifacts under the supervision of senior engineer

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or applicable discipline
  • High proficiency with computers and applications such as MS Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Project, Visio, Powerpoint).
  • Has acquired knowledge about printed circuit board layout, power distribution, mechanical enclosures, stack-up and manufacturability.
  • Familiar with Design For Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) and expands knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • 2+ years of product and design experience of mechanical/electrical products.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work well as part of a design team.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and environments
  • Detail oriented with effective analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

Security:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations.

Assets

  • Working experience in creating SOW, SOR, Engineering Job Analysis, and WBS an asset.
  • Experience in Quality Control/metrics an asset.
  • Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) / Design For Manufacturing/Green Belt an asset.
  • Lean manufacturing
