About The Role

As a data scientist you’ll play a major role in shaping up our growing data science team at Apna. You will primarily work as an individual contributor, being responsible in delivering end to end solutions for the models built. You will also be expected to provide thought leadership about data in the form of not only identifying data sources that can be leveraged to build high fidelity models but also introduce data collection and enrich our datasets where necessary. You will closely work with the product teams in defining roadmaps around the entire lifecycle of building models. Your efforts will directly influence the growth of our Marketplace driven through core metrics such as liquidity, fulfilment, relevancy, and thereby contributing to Apna’s top and bottom line as a whole.

What You Will Do

• Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
• Mine and analyze data (structured and unstructured) from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
• Processing, cleansing and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
• Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
• Formulating ML problems to solve for, by working with the team of product managers and analysts
• Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
• Productionise models by working closely with the engineering and devops teams

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience as a Data Scientist with a Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or a relevant quantitative field
• Knowledge of R/Python, SQL; familiarity with Scala, Go is an asset
• Experience with distributed data / computing tools: Map/Reduce, Redshift, Bigquery, Hadoop, Spark, etc.
• Preferably prior experience on problems related to optimisation, recommendation systems, time series forecasting, NLP, social network analysis.
• Experience creating and using machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
• Experience in taking machine learning models to production
• Strong math skills (e.g. statistics, algebra)
