Job Description

Provides management and analysis of business data for use in decision making and organizational efficiency improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions

• Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.
• Aggregates and performs statistical analysis on business data based on requests from project teams or senior leadership.
• Integrates data from multiple data sources or functional areas, ensures data accuracy and integrity, and updates data as needed.
• Writes queries or reports to provide data for various analytical projects.
• Interprets data to identify business trends, conduct root cause analysis of business problems, or suggest areas for process improvement.
• Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
• Independently manages projects, acts as project manager for various assigned projects
• Meets independently with all levels of personnel in order to complete assigned projects and task.
• Represent all areas of the division at a leadership level when required.
• Provide professional support to the head of Business Intelligence.
• Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 3+ years post-academic and/or recent industry experience in model development and statistical analysis of large datasets
• Proven ability to balance probability and statistical theory and algorithms science with pragmatic problem solving skills
• A track record of developing and applying advanced predictive algorithms and behavioral models to solve real world problems
• Experience using statistical computer languages (Python, R, SQL, etc.) and machine learning methods to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets;

Working Knowledge of:

• Determination of structure or distribution of data
• Common classification techniques
• Common regression techniques
• Predictive modeling
• Experience with distributed data/computing tools
• Experience visualizing/presenting descriptive statistical data with modern visual tools (i.e.: MS Power BI)
• Strong communication skills, both verbally and written, and the ability to develop and present proposals, results and business cases to internal and customer executives
• This job description covers a position in which the percentage of time spent on the essential functions will vary based on the workload and will ultimately be determined by the supervisor.
