General Area of Responsibility:

1. The 2nd Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer. 2. In case of emergency and the Chief Engineer is not available the 2nd Engineer takes over the Chief Engineers responsibility as above but also according to Emergency Response Manual 3. To perform operational duties as requested by the Chief Engineer, related to all tasks of the vessel including Salvage operations 4. To carry out maintenance duties on deck, in the engine room or accommodation in a safe manner 5. Ensure the Planned Maintenance System is kept updated and is followed 6.
