The Non-Financial Risk team in M&G Asset Management is recruiting for a risk analyst to join the team. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn and grow in their career in non-financial risk management across several technical risk areas such as risk frameworks, governance, reporting, ICARA, deep dives, incidents management and RCSAs.

Role Summary

The Analyst of Non-Financial Risk in Asset Management is responsible for supporting the Experienced Manager and Manager of Non-Financial Risk to execute their Non-Financial Risk responsibilities across the asset management business. This role reports to the Head of Non-Financial Risk who ultimately supports the CRO in meeting their non-financial risk responsibilities as an SMF 4.

Governance and reporting:

•Support the Manager in executing a robust Non-Financial Risk Governance model.

•Support the Manager in performing risk / data analysis to support the production of best-in-class risk reports on non-financial risk matters.

•Monitor 1b risk reports submitted to key management committees / forums as first line risk responsibilities.

Non-Financial Risk Framework:

•Support the Manager in maintaining appropriate Risk Framework documentation on Non-Financial Risk matters.

•Support the Manager in designing, implementing and embedding key mandatory training to support the asset management business in conducting its non-financial risk responsibilities.

•Support the Manager in the design, implementation and embedding of risk systems used for RCSA cycles.

ICARA, wind down, emerging and transformation risk:

•Support the Manager in data collation, review and preparation for ICARA activities.

•Support the Manager and Experienced Manager in drafting risk summaries from the detailed framework documents.

Deep dives, thematic reviews

•Support the Manager in the identification of key deep dives, thematic reviews and assurance reviews to be undertaken in the asset management business.

•Support the Manager in executing deep dives, thematic or assurance reviews.

RCSA cycle (incl. business value chain implementation):

•Review, challenge and advise on the RCSA setup and design in the asset management business.

•Review and challenge on specific RCSAs undertaken by first line as directed by the Manager. Provide general advisory support where needed.

•Conduct cultural monitoring around the RCSA cycle to identify key areas of concern, improvements of challenges identified (proactively and reactively) as directed by the Manager.

•Provide risk system support (technical advisory) to the asset management business.

Incidents management:

•Support the Manager in monitoring, reviewing and challenging the incidents in the business to identify (i) themes / concentrations of incidents, (ii) cultural / technical improvements, (iii) data quality improvements of cause, event and effect, (iv) quality improvements of remedial actions to prevent reoccurrence and treat customers fairly, (v) improvements in compensable events, (vi) gaps / improvements in engaging with all technical specialists during incident investigations, (vii) reportable events to regulators.

Advisory:

•Provide general technical advisory support on non-financial risk matters.

•Know when to reach out to specific technical specialists in the business to support non-financial risk matters. E.g., supplier / third party risk, cyber risk, data privacy risk, etc.

Knowledge, skills and capabilities:

  • Some knowledge of the asset management business including its risk regulatory and technical requirements.

Qualifications / experience:

  • Working towards a professional qualification.
  • Membership to key external professional bodies (e.g., IOR, IRM, IA, etc.).
