Residence Counselor

Dominion House Residence Counselor- Full Time

Responsibilities of the Dominion House Residence Counselor are to provide services to adults who have a diagnosed mental illness and are living in group home for stabilization. Clients are referred from an inpatient hospital or from the community due to a crisis situation. Dominion House is a short-term program and helps clients stabilize before they are referred to the next level of transitional housing. Specific duties included:

• Providing supportive counseling to assist in stabilizing.
• Crisis prevention skills and coping skills.
• Crisis intervention.
• Medication supervision and teaching of medication management.
• Teaching of daily living skills.
• Maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our clients to become independent which includes some cleaning; and
• Socialization skills and recreational activities.

We DO NOT do personal care AND we DO NOT do physical restraints. Everything we do with our clients is verbal engagement and interactions including supportive counseling and teaching.

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications for the Dominion House Residence Counselor include:

• College classes in human services, BA preferred.
• 6 months-1year experience in human services preferred.
• Valid and insurable driver's licenses.
• Experience or education in crisis intervention and prevention preferred.
• Both the ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
• The ability to be organized and have good time management skills.

Benefits

Salary and Schedule of the Dominion House Residence Counselor Full Time

• 40 hours per week.
• $21.12/hour; $43,929.60/annual equivalent.
• Overtime is available; $31.68/overtime pay rate.

Dominion House Schedule:

Saturday 3:00pm-11:00pm

Sunday 9:00am-5:00pm

Monday 3:00pm-11:00pm

Tuesday 2:00pm-10:00pm

Wednesday 9:00am-5:00pm

Thursday Off
