Provide inspection and reporting of civil work performed at the Ka La’i Ola project.

  • Review documentation required by contract, the State of Hawaii, and Maui County expectation for civil construction scope of work.
  • Implement an inspection program to ensure that fabrication/construction/installation is performed according to plans and specifications.
  • Assist project teams with the review of all key civil project documents.
  • Support project meetings and communicate the status of progress and assigned tasks.
  • Support communication of regular updates on the civil project execution plan and schedule including engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts.
  • Inspect civil works including roads, village site services including water, sewer, and power to ensure compliance with design documents and specifications.
  • Coordinate with cost engineers and estimators, project scheduler and the QA Lead to report issues, findings and collaborate to share information to benefit the project. This includes developing a Quality Assurance Plan based on contract/state expectations to ensure the end products comply with the quality standards established in the contracts.
  • Benefit provided to client:
    • Monitor civil construction performance against project milestones, and other established metrics.
    • Identification of issues associated with civil construction or installation that could impact the tenant occupancy of the temporary housing units will be identified early and not create a condition, where occupancy is expected but subsequently is granted based documentation or installation that does not meet requirements.
  • Key job requirements:
    • A minimum of 3 years of experience in construction, specifically related to QA/QC and inspections or a bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management.
    • Ability to travel to the Ka La’i Ola project and be on-site for the entirety of civil works, as required by project scope.
    • Must wear personal protective clothing (steel toe shoes, safety vest and safety glasses) at the at all times with the exception when indoors when at the Ka La’I Ola project site.
    • Must have effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; problem-solving techniques; ability to take direction.
    • General understanding and ability to use Bluebeam and Onscreen Takeoff.
    • Microsoft Office suite; strong excel spreadsheet analysis and strong writing skills to support development of daily reports.
    • Familiarity with construction processes, project contracts, engineering practices, construction techniques, civil construction.
    • Strong attention to detail; focus on accuracy, consistency, and quality of work; high degree of integrity and reliability.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and flexibility in terms of assignments.
    • Customer service oriented.
    • Functions well within a team environment.
    • Organization and planning skills.
    • Problem-solving ability.
    • Highly motivated and reliable
    • Work Schedule
      • Monday through Friday, 6:30 am – 4:30 pm.
      • Saturday, typically 6:30 am to 12:00 pm but subject to plan of the day.
