Scope of Role

This hybrid role blends technical writing with instructional design principles to develop exceptional learning experiences, offering a dynamic career path where you can create user guides and training experiences. Reporting to our Technical Communications Manager, you will get to write technical documentation while using and expanding your knowledge of information architecture and instructional design.

As a Graduate Technical Writer, you will:

Technical writing

• Create clear and easy-to-understand documentation for technical products, such as user manuals, FAQs, API references, release notes, and other knowledge base articles.
• Learn to use the product that you are documenting to the extent that is necessary to document it.
• Plan how users will easily navigate and find the information they need.
• Conduct user research to understand content needs and pain points.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather technical information.
• Ensure technical documentation follows style guides and company standards.
• Work with other technical writers on projects aiming to improve the content and documentation design.

Instruction design

• Design and develop engaging training materials, such as online courses, instructor-led training modules, and video tutorials.
• Use multiple authoring and content management tools (e.g., Camtasia, Figma, Storylane, Articulate, Absorb) to create interactive and visually appealing learning experiences.
• Stay up to date on the latest instructional design trends and technologies.
• Participate in meetings and discussions to gather requirements and provide feedback.

You will have:

• Writing and editing skills with the ability to create clear, concise, and user-friendly content.
• Research and analytical skills to gather information and understand complex technical concepts.
• Understanding of user experience (UX) principles to ensure the documentation is easy to use and navigate.
• Familiarity with learning principles and instructional design models.
• Experience conducting user testing and incorporating feedback into revisions.
• Some knowledge of authoring tools, content management systems, or eLearning platforms.
