The Role: Analyst, Global Oil Demand

The Location: Gurgaon

The Team: This role is in Global Demand Research, a growing part of the Oil Markets, Midstream and Downstream (OMD) under Fuels, Chemicals and Resource Solutions (FRCS) business line at S&P Global Commodity Insights. Members of Global Demand Research interact actively with other research insights and analysts in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and globally in subject areas such as global oil production, refining, trade flows, generating fuels, future energy outlooks and integrated analytics.

The Impact: This position will have major responsibilities in working with regional analysts and covering elements affecting Asia, Middle East, Africa, West of Suez and global oil markets with a particular emphasis on oil demand by product in the global context and presenting results in both written reports and client-facing interactions. The position will also have business development and client retention responsibilities for the above regions in the global context.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for doing analytics research on short-term oil product demand and market and write monthly reports and spotlights.
  • Contribute to Global Demand Outlook report.
  • Be responsible for detailed petroleum product demand forecast for the west of Suez countries as needed.
  • Understand policy trends affecting the oil sector in the west of Suez.
  • Deliver ad-hoc spotlight reports based on industrial events and client queries.
  • Working closely with other members of Global Demand Research, other teams, and Commodity Insights at large.
  • Interact with customers to answer questions and present oil market outlooks.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum four years of experience in refining analytics, energy industry consulting, investment banking, equity research or equivalent professional experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in economics, engineering, business administration, or similar field
  • Excellent communication skills and superb in oral and written English (as most of our communication are done in English internally and externally). Must be able to effectively present forecasts and supporting materials to clients in regular reports, phone calls, emails, and web/live conferences.
  • Innovative and strong problem-solving skills to streamline processes and identify and implement improvements.
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel. At ease using features such as pivot tables, matrix formulas and other advanced Excel functionality.
  • Successful candidates will be able to work well under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent at data mining and data visualization with available software programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong background in statistical/econometric/refining modeling (LPs)
  • Experience covering the Continent oil markets in the global context
  • Understanding of economics/trade in the region
  • Experience in modeling and programming languages
