Aviation Operations Manager (Into - Plane Refueling)

Location: London Canary Wharf (Remote)

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Sr. Director of Operations.
  • Implementation of QHSE standards and processes.
  • Responsible for applying Quality & Technical policy within WFS Aviation in the UK in line with Industry standards.
  • Manage UK physical assets operating staff and provide oversight, guidance, training and organizational alignment to achieve safety, regulatory and operational excellence and best practices
  • Implement change and demonstrate accountability to link the organization’s risk management strategy to the asset’s day-to-day operations and hold UK physical asset operational leaders (UK Airport Station Managers) accountable to deliver results.
  • Responsible for ensuring that Aviation staff are trained and equipped to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of UK aviation operations; specific attention should be made towards succession planning and business continuity capability.
  • Supported UK BD in order to facilitate growth whilst maintaining current operations.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of WFS operated and supported UK airport storage and into plane facilities.
  • Be accountable for planning and organising the operation in the safest, most cost effective manner and in compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Oversee day-to-day routine aspects of UK OPEX and aviation fuel stock management.
  • Ensure all materials and services are requisitioned in line with approved Delegations of Authority.
  • To ensure that Product Quality Standards at the operating units are maintained at all times.
  • Represent WFS interests at the airports concerned and liaise with external organisations as well as with internal contacts within WFS to ensure that all aspects of UK operations are properly managed and integrated.
  • Review the performance and career development of subordinate staff at regular intervals.
  • Provide the customer service as defined in the commercial agreements.
  • Liaise with local representatives of airlines, general aviation and military customers.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Approximately 84 Indirect Reports
  • BHX, DUB, EMA, LGW, LTN, INV and SOU Airport Station Managers

Geographic Scope & Travel Requirements

Role is home based but mobile and is eligible for a car allowance in accordance with WFS Policy. Travel frequency in the UK is high with less frequent travel on a global basis in a JIG inspector capacity (once qualified).

Key Performance Measures: For the UK Operation:

  • Successful Delivery of HSE KPIs
  • Successful Delivery of Operational KPIs
  • Successful implementation of Training Programme
  • Delivery of support to BD whilst maintaining current operational capability
  • Meeting agreed ongoing objectives in the time agreed

Education Required

  • Essential: A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (Grades A-C) including Maths and English.
  • Desirable: Educated to A Level standard with a University Degree

Work Experience Required

  • The successful is likely to have in excess of 10 years work experience within the Aviation Fuels sector.
  • Experience of managing personnel with in an into place refueling operation is essential.
  • People management experience across a multi site aviation refueling operation is essential.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of leading teams
  • Aviation fuel operations management experience
  • People management experience across a multi site aviation refueling operation is essential.

Desirable

  • Understanding of Risk Assessments & Risk Management
  • Formal QHSE qualification is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Fuel Management Systems
