Engineering Manager - Operations

Purpose of Role: The primary focus of this role is to support The Crown engineering operations team to ensure the engineering, building systems and technology defined and delivered at the development stage, operate as intended, and that existing assets increase their operational performance through planned interventions. A key interface will be to provide management, oversight, and guidance in relation to building performance to ensure that the asset operates at its optimal level and increased in operational performance during its life cycle.

Main Accountabilities:

• In conjunction with the asset management team (including external support teams), pro-actively lead in the management of engineering solutions within operations to increase the asset performance, reducing operational energy and carbon emissions.
• Be progressive and adopt a market leading approaches to energy and carbon reduction, and to customers experience.
• Take a managing role in the delivery of the Net Carbon Zero ambitions for The Estate, working with the internal teams such as sustainability and external partners who operate across the portfolio. Support the wider Engineering function with the teams strategic direction and guidance on the approach for development projects, operational management solution, asset information strategy, digital delivery strategies, modern methods of construction, consultant and contractor performance monitoring and any Estate wide initiatives. Provide a focus on encouraging amongst others strategic improvements in reliability, maintainability, operational cost reduction through the use of operational technologies.
• Development and define requirements around operations and engineering to enhance information quality.
• Support the engineering team with project management to help deliver complex technical challenges.
• Work towards and generate new ideas / mechanisms that will help with delivery of New Zero Carbon ambitions for The Estate.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills (Essential and desirable):

• Exemplary track record in relation to the engineering building systems and smart building technology, that shows experience and a progressive attitude towards implementation in complex and demanding environments.
• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering.
• Strategic testing and commissioning management, validation and plant maintenance experience.
• Proven experience of working as a contractor and/or consultant in an high paced operational capacity.
• Proven experience of buildings in the occupational phase, in-use and the ability to deliver solutions through learnings in this regard.
• Ability to develop a personal profile to represent the business externally.
• Sound understanding of contracts and typical MEP plant operation.
• Experience of the relevant industry measurement systems e.g. NABERS ratings, BREEAM, Wellness etc.
• SFG20 and data driven maintenance strategies
