Senior Strategic Consents Manager

Purpose of role: The Senior Strategic Consents Manager plays a pivotal role in driving strategic environmental and consenting initiatives across all sectors within Marine. This role is tasked with identifying opportunities to de-risk thematic consenting issues, paving the way for enabling actions and risk management strategies.

By creating a robust framework for strategic environmental compensation and providing expertise in environmental compliance, informing broader environmental regulatory change (associated with the statutory consenting process) and overseeing broader environmental assessments, and appraisals, the Senior Strategic Consents Manager contributes to effective sectoral performance, management of sectoral project attrition risk and sustainable practices.

Main Accountabilities:

• Identify and capitalise on opportunities to de-risk thematic consenting issues across sectors, strategically managing potential challenges and paving the way for enabling actions & risk mitigation strategies
• Establish and accountable for a comprehensive framework for strategic environmental compensation, fostering a systematic approach to address environmental considerations and promote sustainability
• Provide crucial support to sector leads by engaging in consenting activities, identifying critical evidence needs and supporting on the delivery of strategic environmental compensation
• Work across sectors (with sector leads) to ensure broader (non-HRA) environmental compliance and facilitating broader environmental assessments and appraisals
• Cultivate stakeholder engagement and manage relationships with external entities, aligning strategic initiatives and building collaborative partnerships

Knowledge, experience & skills:

• Expert knowledge of the marine consenting process and current marine policy (including Government initiatives to accelerate the deployment of offshore wind)
• Comprehensive understanding of broader environmental assessments, environmental compliance, and the strategic considerations associated with environmental compensation
• Demonstrated expertise in risk management, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement within the context of environmental and consenting activities
• Proficiency in sustainability practices, technology insights, and value identification and assessment, complemented by a strong grasp of strategy formulation and execution
