Founded in 1834, DESMI is one of Denmark’s oldest companies and a global leader in the development, manufacturing and service of pumps and pumping solutions for various industries, including the marine, industrial, defense and utility industries. With 200+ employees, DESMI supplies its pumps and systems to more than 100 countries via subsidiary and distribution networks. This position will be based either at the US headquarters in Chesapeake, VA, or remotely on the US South East Coast.

The Sales Engineer for the Marine market will be responsible for providing technical sales support to internal stakeholders and external customers, thereby fostering strong relationships with all parties. As a Sales Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting and driving the performance of DESMI Inc.'s sales activities. You will play a pivotal role in managing RFP opportunities, ultimately securing contracts and contributing to the overall growth of the organization.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a customer-facing environment, have experience with rotating equipment, knowledge of pumps is an advantage and experience managing RFQ processes. You will be responsible for product specification and support the sales team in identifying new sales opportunities.

Responsibilities As Sales Engineer, your main responsibility is to support a smooth sales cycle, thereby contributing to the growth of the overall organization.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Achieve sales objectives with a focus on revenue and profitability
  • Lead the RFQ process and ensure accurate, on-time delivery of quotes
  • Monitor the sales pipeline to drive new sales
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to ensure a smooth customer experience and recurring business
  • Participate in the development of sales training programs
  • Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders
  • Organize and conduct training and workshops for customers and internal teams
  • Conduct technical presentations in a commercial setting
  • Stay up to date on market conditions such as competitors and products to create new business opportunities
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Attend industry-specific trade shows and conferences to promote DESMI
  • Carry out administrative tasks related to sales, e.g. CRM tool

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (technical or business) or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of B2B commercial experience
  • Experience with industrial rotating equipment
  • Experience in Marine, Industrial and/or Defense markets
  • Solid experience working in CRM tools, preferably Salesforce
  • Prefer experience with positive displacement and centrifugal pumps and systems
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
