General Description:

BeiGene France is looking for a Filed Medical lead to oversee the team of Field Medical Advisors.

He/she oversees the effective and efficient functioning of individual Field Medical Advisors team. Develops and strengthens the skills of direct reports through frequent interactions and coaching in field settings and other contexts. Regularly scheduled one-on-one discussions and field visits with individuals are expected

The Associate Director Field Medical Lead will help oversee the field medical teamโ€™s support of BeiGene-marketed compounds as well as Pre-Clinical and Clinical pipeline development by coordinating external collaborations and research endeavors with healthcare providers and external academicians while ensuring internal partnership across the organization.

The Associate Director Field Medical Lead will also be expected to lead specific projects, which may involve all or several members of the SA team. He/she will collaborate closely with the medical managers in order to build the national medical affairs strategy.

This position will require pre-launch and post-launch medical affairs support primarily for the development of the hematology pipeline, focusing on malignant hematology. As a leader in the organization, the incumbent will be accountable for developing regional and national strategies to support enduring and compliant relationships with Opinion Leaders, Research Collaborators, & Key Organizations in support of the BeiGene development pipeline across all therapeutic areas.

The associate director field medical lead will participate with his team to the national strategy around the products. He/she will collaborate will other functions in the creation of the brand plan. Specifically, the incumbent will work closely with internal colleagues, including, but not limited to, medical affairs, marketing, sales, clinical development, program leadership, clinical operations, legal, compliance, new product planning, clinical business development intelligence, and safety/pharmacovigilance.

The incumbent will be accountable for ensuring activities are executed within the expected scope, budget, and timelines per region; will assure best-in-class capabilities and service; and will play a key role in the establishment, leadership, and growth of the following areas: Investigator-Initiated Research Program. Strategic Support for Clinical Development Trials, upon request Medical Affairs Advisory Boards & Symposia. Medical Conference / Congress Support Training Support for MA staff & Support for Training of Commercial Colleagues

Essential Functions of the job:

  • Team coaching and development (60%)
    Thinks strategically in the development and execution of tactical Medical Engagement Plans and field medical advisors tools aligned with objectives.
  • Ensure that field medical advisors have robust current scientific knowledge to facilitate timely, appropriate, balanced scientific exchanges with key external experts. Ensure all field medical advisors fulfill global and corporate training requirements and comply with applicable internal and external policies and regulations.
  • Coach, train, and manage field medical advisors performance, ensuring excellence in the execution of their role toward achieving strategic and tactical goals.
    • Monitor field medical advisors execution of plans within their respective geographical areas and with KOLs via regular feedback and coaching.
    • Monitor and focus field medical advisors operational efficiencies to ensure correct balance towards external-facing activities.
  • Regularly spend time joining field medical advisors field activities and providing feedback to support the improvement of skills to impact performance and professional development.
  • Support and guide the field medical advisors team, appropriately prioritizing elements of improvement through a customized training and career plan. Consider the needs of the field medical advisors and of the business supporting attracting, engaging, and retaining field medical advisors talent.
  • Identify and support opportunities for innovation and field excellence initiatives to differentiate BeiGene medical and help achieve and exceed department objectives. Support the development of an action plan to close medical โ€œgapsโ€ in the current organization.
  • Manage budget appropriately and ensure fiduciary responsibility is practiced by direct reports.
  • KOL strategy and management (20%)
  • Collaborate to develop country and geographic-level strategic and tactical Medical Engagement Plans
  • Translate overall priorities into specific goals and expected outcomes for target geographic areas and individual field medical advisors
  • Supervise the identification, mapping and quarterly review of KOLs for each field medical advisor in their geographic area to prioritize key stakeholders and develop customized engagement plans.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrate the value of BeiGene medical and the value of BeiGene medicines through supporting strong field medical advisors relationships with key external experts, including the identification of local data generation initiatives to support own company objectives, as well as stakeholder needs.
  • Assists or oversees in the development and execution of clinically relevant local medical meetings (e.g., advisory boards, consultant, and investigator meetings).
  • Support, attend and follow up on scientific congresses (local, national, and international), or other events where appropriate.
  • Communicate scientific and medical information/insights (20%)
  • Able to oversee insights generation activities and ensure actionable insights are incorporated into strategic planning processes. Provides impactful feedback/information to internal stakeholders on emerging clinical and scientific trends.
  • Evaluate and summarize feedback on key scientific, medical, and clinical information to provide insights into its impact on internal functions.
  • Facilitate communication and organize meetings and events among field medical advisors and with other functions to promote best-demonstrated practices where appropriate.
  • The incumbent must join field medical advisors field interactions to coach performance.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the field medical advisors team operates in line with BeiGene and industry compliance policies.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Line Management experience: Ability to lead, manage and develop a field-based team.
  • Proven experience of building strong working cross-functional team relationships to achieve results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Preferred: ยท

  • Area of specialization related to therapeutic area.
  • 5+ years of Field Medical role experience.
  • 2+ years of people-management experience.

Education Required:

PharmD, PhD, or MD preferred. Advanced degree or those with a Masterโ€™s degree in life sciences with commensurate pharmaceutical industry and clinical research experience are also welcome to apply.

Other Qualifications: Fluent English and French (written and spoken)

Travel: Willingness to travel extensively (60% of time), participation at major congresses
