Senior Cloud Platform Engineer

Oritain, a global data company headquartered in Dunedin, is seeking a passionate and skilled Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join their innovative team based in our Auckland office. With additional hubs in London, Washington DC and Zug, Oritain provides data insights and scientific traceability to some of the biggest brands in the world. By helping these brands understand the origin of their products, Oritain builds trust and integrity within their supply chains while simultaneously addressing critical issues such as deforestation and modern slavery.

As a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be a key player in building and maintaining Oritain's cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and secure cloud-based solutions. You will also be responsible for optimizing the performance and reliability of the platform, ensuring smooth operations and minimal downtime. Responsibilities

• Work closely with data engineers, data scientists, and software developers to fulfill company requirements in cloud resources such as Azure App Functions, Web Services, Databases, Virtual Machines, Serverless, VNETs, Storages, Key Vaults, etc.
• Use Terraform, Ansible, and best practices of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate the deployment of new and existing services.
• Drive production changes of the infrastructure via change control and code review on GitHub.
• Ensure both IaC codebase and deployed resources are up to date and capable to fulfill current in future needs.
• Write and troubleshoot Github actions (CI pipelines).
• Integrate Azure Cloud with another provider such as GitHub, Cloud Flare, Let’s Encrypt
• Maintain documentation and manuals.
• Plan and perform migration projects.
• Manage backups.
• Maintain and test disaster recovery plan.
• Monitor and troubleshoot Cloud infrastructure, Services, and Applications.
• Collect and analyze logs.
• Manage SSL certificates.
• Harden services and infrastructure. Bring best security practices. Access Management
• Manage Kubernetes cluster and Jupyterhub (scalable development environment).
• Monitor the cost of infrastructure. Search for cost-effective alternatives as required.

Requirements

• Diploma, Bachelor's degree, or Masters, in Information Technology or a related area.
• A track record of being in a team that has managed Cloud Infrastructure.
• Proven experience of at least 7 years as a Cloud, System Engineer or similar role.
• 3+ years of experience administrating or building on a major cloud provider (ideally Azure).
• Strong experience in Infrastructure as Code approach (Terraform).
• Experience with configuration management and automation.
• Experience with database technologies such as Postgres, Cosmos DB.
• Solid understanding and experience in Kubernetes cluster.
• Experience with Jupyterhub would be beneficial.
• Be able to read and write simple code in Python, Bash.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, including containerization and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
• Experience with Git version control system.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Desire and ability to grow and improve with Oritain and help those around them do so too by contributing to the company’s culture.
• Ability to legally work in the New Zealand

This is a fulltime (40 hours per week), permanent opportunity. The remuneration is between $110,000 - $150,000 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.
