The Research Associate works under broad direction, contributing to the research and activities of the University. They work with the research team, provide sound advice and recommendations, collaborate to solve issues, and foster a positive workplace environment.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Conduct and contribute to research and scholarly activities independently or as part of a team
  • manage genomic data files and ensure efficient communication with Sydney Informatic Hub and NCI
  • develop and refine research skills to design a website hosting several omic databases under the guidance of senior academic staff
  • support bioinformatic researchers and mentor and advise students within the discipline
  • perform administrative tasks and participate in faculty/school meetings
  • foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture
  • support the university and faculty/school strategic initiatives and undertake related projects

About you

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, data science, machine learning or a relevant field combined with training and experience in the digital health space
  • strong understanding of digital health within an academic setting
  • proven experience in conducting original research or engaging in scholarly activities
  • excellent communication and public speaking skills
  • high level of computer literacy
  • effective planning and organisational abilities.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
