Position Summary:

Position: People & Culture Business Partner

Type: Fulltime

Location: Fort McKay, Alberta, Head Office

Schedule: 40 Hours per week. Monday to Thursday (Alternating Friday) - Hybrid Working Schedule

* This position is local to the Fort McMurray Region.

Role Summary:

The Company is seeking an experienced People & Culture Business Partner with a high degree of analytical skills coupled with HR Generalist capabilities to join the People and Culture Team.

The PCBP provides professional generalist advice and support to all facets of the business with a primary focus on employee relations, performance management, succession planning, job evaluation and organizational design. The PCBP will sometimes be called upon to support Recruitment in the areas of selection, classification and compensation. The successful candidate will be required to have strong knowledge on Employment Standards Legislation and Human Rights.

The PCBP must have working knowledge and the ability to enter and extract data using the HRIS systems. The PCBP will prepare reporting on employee demographics, trends, and projections to senior leadership.

While the role is locally based out of our Fort McKay office, there will be requirement to travel to our site locations to liaise, build relationships and conduct business with your assigned teams. Flexibility, adaptability and enjoyment of a fast-paced, high volume work environment will be key to success in this PCBP role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide HR Generalist advice to business units on all facets of Human Resources
  • Functional HRIS user - understand the data input to extract and analyze data
  • Prepare, review, interpret, analyze and approve a variety of data, information and reports, and make recommendations on findings
  • Disability Management - provide case management expertise with the monitoring of medical leaves and long-term disability applications
  • Assist the Director with the maintenance and development of People & Culture procedures and policies
  • Provide coaching and support to leadership teams
  • Participate in the development of the Apprenticeship and Employee Life Cycle Programs
  • Support logistics for the annual employee service awards
  • Recommend improvements to compensation, job evaluation and organizational design structures
  • Manage complex employee relations issues and investigations
  • Development, and facilitation of internal leadership development sessions

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or College Diploma with a focus on Human Resources-equivalencies will be considered depending on experience
  • Minimum of three to five years experience in a professional HR role
  • Proven experience within an HRIS system is required - Navision and BambooHR experience would be an asset
  • Relevant computer software and hardware applications knowledge
  • Exceptional advanced MS Excel skills required
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License
  • Experience with Disability Management is considered an asset
  • Exceptional Interpersonal, Communication and Critical Thinking Skills
  • Exceptional organizational abilities
  • Ability to research, evaluate and analyze trends, policy, and procedures
  • Ability to work alone on a broad variety of projects.
  • Ability to exercise effective judgment, sensitivity, creativity to changing needs and situations
  • Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in course of work
  • Proven ability to manage complex investigations
  • Possess a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of employment standards and employment law
  • Works well in a fast paced, team environment
